In your own space, talk about a fannish opinion you hold that has changed over time

This is a bit of a hard one because I can't think of too many that are fundamentally big, other than trying to be a bit less judgemental on people for things and a little more considerate when I complain about things I don't like in public—a sort of how I'd like others to be treated.

I guess a big one that relates a little more to dwrp and might be a little wanky to some is I realized it is okay to be m/m only for shipping. I've enjoyed some of the female characters I've played with, but overall, I found myself getting anxious about it and realized it's okay to be exclusionary about your tastes on that front. Same with writing. I don't worry as much about what the gender configuration of my ships says about me anymore.

I've been trying to get there. Shipping isn't activism, after all.

It is hard, especially because it is good to look at why we like what we like sometimes, but I feel like it goes in petrifying directions.

Saaaaaame. I mean, I'm still going to spent too much time trying to unpack why that is, but I'm done feeling about my own preferences. ❤️❤️

Yeah it's definitely good to think about our own preferences and I think it doesn't just apply to m/m or shipping preferences. Understanding ourselves is always a good thing. But there's a point at which we have to let ourselves love the things we love.
