Talk about what has improved in your life thanks to fandom.

I'll be honest, in some ways I worry that fandom has been a drag on me, thanks to my obsessing with it a little too much at the expense of other things.

But as someone who is really shy and never got out much of my family home as a child or a young adult and still keeps to herself, fandom has allowed me to form a lot of meaningful connections.

And like a lot of people, I've encountered so many different viewpoints and people from different backgrounds. I've learned a lot that I would never have learned if I didn't come into fandom.

that's honestly the best part - that you get to know some really great people you might not otherwise ever meet.

For sure. There's some interesting people I've clicked with.

The connections that we can make through fandom are often long-lasting, or what we need, or just a lot of fun being around other people who are similarly inclined.

Yes! There's a lot of good times I can look back on even now.

I totally relate to worrying about fandom taking up too much time at the cost of other things, but I can't bring myself to regret it. As you said, being able to form meaningful connections and get exposed to different perspectives/people is definitely one of the best parts. :)

I can relate to that; I found most of my friends, and many great friends, through fandom. It can be awesome in that sense. (Especially for us, homebodies!)

Yes it's amazing when you meet someone over some dorky thing and then you still know them years later.
