Summary: Floyd takes Deuce on an undersea trip for his birthday.
"Senpai, you don't have to," Deuce said as Floyd tugged him towards the magic mirror. "I just gave you a gift last year because I was the presenter." Granted, even now Floyd still liked to enjoy that gift, since as he said, Deuce had never said just how many Magic Wheel rides he was entitled to. And for all that Deuce had tried to limit it to just a few rides, even he had to admit they were doing it almost every other weekend or holiday. It was hard to say no to someone who liked riding with him that much. It was even a little flattering. Still though…
"Ehehe, come on Mackerel, just go on a little swim with me. It'll be fun!" Floyd continued to tug on the sleeve of Deuce's jacket until they were right up against the Magic Mirror and then he paused to look down at Deuce. "If you do, I'll give you a nice little bonus present."
Deuce was about to say it wasn't necessary only to find there was something in Floyd's eyes that set his heart pounding and quickly looked away. "Then I guess we can go. I wouldn't want you to waste your effort!"
Floyd gave an excited little cackle and then handed Deuce a familiar bottle of water-breathing potion, which he gulped down. Instantly his lungs began to burn and contract, no longer able to breathe air and he was then pushed into the mirror to await whatever trip Floyd had in store for him.
"Senpai! Please slow down!" Deuce gasped as they whipped through the water, holding onto Floyd for dear life. "It's… I can't even see anything!"
"Don't worry! We're almost there, so stop your whining!" Floyd said with a flick of his tail. The moment they'd hit the water, he'd grabbed onto Deuce and started to swim fast. It was night and the ocean was dark, save for the glow of Floyd's body and the occasional strange plant or fish they passed by. Once in a while there was a dark-looking mass moving by and once Floyd had snapped his teeth at one, causing it to move on, but otherwise, they'd kept going.
It was nice to not have to swim on his own and there was something about watching the scenery go by that was almost hypnotic at times. Deuce knew Floyd was fast in the water, but not like this, a constant surge of physical power coming from his taut muscles. It was almost as exciting as a Magic Wheel ride, and in this case, it was entirely Floyd's strength carrying them forward. But it was also a little overwhelming and Deuce wasn't sure where they were going. Floyd had just laughed and said "you'll see" multiple times.
When they finally did stop it was with a lurch that nearly made Deuce lose his dinner, especially as the fast stop caused him to jolt in the arms holding him so close to Floyd's body. "W-warn a guy!"
"Ehehe, stop whining so much," Floyd sighed. "And we're here," he said as he looked up.
"Here? Where's…" The question died on Deuce's lips as he followed Floyd's gaze and saw a sight that was too beautiful to be described. "Senpai, it's amazing."
Floating above them were large, circular shapes, with long tendrils hanging beneath them. They were almost see-through and glowed blueish white, their bodies contracting and expanding as they moved through the waters.
"Are those jellyfish?" Deuce's voice was soft as he continued to gaze upwards, still cradled in Floyd's arms as they floated there.
"Yep, yep," Floyd said. "We're going to get closer okay? Just don't touch them or they'll prickle you."
"Alright," Deuce and they swam upwards till they were much closer, only a few yards away. They floated there for a while, Floyd's arms a bit loser. "Senpai, do they do this all the time?"
"Nah, they usually stay elsewhere, but they come back around this time of year."
"…which just happens to be my birthday," Deuce said quietly as he looked back at Floyd, who was grinning from ear to ear, the greenish glow of his skin a contrast to the bright light of the jellies. "Thank you."
Floyd giggled. "I'm so smart, aren't I, showing you something pretty and shiny like this!?" But then there was a pause. "But there's something else I gotta give you, because I promised. So close your eyes."
There was something a little sneaky in Floyd's grin and Deuce was about to protest, only to swallow it down. "A-alright. Just don't do anything weird," Deuce said as he scrunched his eyes shut.
"Silly Mackerel," Floyd said before Deuce felt those arms let go of him, though Floyd's clawed hands remained, no doubt to keep him from floating away. Eventually one of Floyd's hands was on Deuce's wrist and another was on his face, stroking back his hair. "Your little spade mark got washed away," Floyd said and Deuce had to wonder why Floyd moved in front of him, only to feel a pressure against the corner of his eye. It tickled a little and Deuce was trying to figure out what Floyd was doing, only to feel the same pressure against his lips, which caused his throat to constrict and his eyes flew open in time to see Floyd's face close up against his own, eyes slowly opening.
"I told you to keep your eyes closed," Floyd said as he broke away from him, still smirking, his other hand rising so that he was cupping Deuce's face. "It's supposed to be a nice surprise. Instead, you're almost as red as Goldfishie gets."
"I-" Deuce was about to protest when suddenly Floyd leaned in and gave him another peck, a much faster one. "-it is!" Deuce said abruptly, and then realizing how loud his voice was, more softly. "I really liked it. All of it. It's probably my favorite birthday present."
Floyd kissed him once again, a longer one and Deuce managed to respond turn, getting lost in the feel of the other cold, smooth skin. "This is for all the rides," Floyd said after they broke apart. "So that we're even."
"…so if I give you more bike rides, you'll do this again?" Floyd nodded at him and Deuce could help but grin. "Then kiss me now, because we'll go riding tomorrow." Floyd gave a little squeal of delight before complying and as the jellyfish were swarming around them, Deuce couldn't help thinking that of the two of them, Floyd was the better gift giver.
