kudos vs comments debate

Seeing a post about kudos vs comments on r/ao3 and all I'll say is that while I'd love to get more comments, I'm happy with getting kudos because I've always understood it to be a "I liked this/good job/update please."
Also I think people take the kudos vs comment debate as if it's either you get a kudos or comment, when realistically, for some readers it's kudos or nothing at all. They were never going to write a comment for a number of different reasons. And that's fine, because quite frankly some people just aren't ever going to be at that stage and too many fanfic authors are publically bitter and entitled about the type of comments they get.

I couldn't agree more that in a society where the want for engagement and validation is at an all time high, people are getting more and more entitled where they shouldn't be and it's INCREDIBLY disheartening. :/
