Tamon's B-side Episode 6 thoughts

givemeyourhonorA lot happened characterwise this episode that's changed my perception of Utage and Tamon's relationship, along with how I feel about the show.
A little more fallout from the battle for the center. We get our first glance at Keito's true character. The man puts on glasses and he ages like 20+ years. He's also a lot more cynical towards the fans to the point that Ouri calls him out. I'm intrigued to see how he'll likely interfere with Tamon and Utagi's relationship since he isn't wrong to be disturbed that she's a super fan and his housekeeper. That's the sensible approach, especially when he sees Tamon performing poorly. They're on the verge of causing a big scandal.
But getting into the real meat of the episode, Tamon's dark side appears. Up till now, we've seen the gloomy personality being really sad in a funny, cute and pathetic way. But we see things go awry when he threatens to kill himself. Props to Utagi for seeing it as a threat though.We keep seeing this side of him escalating along with a sexually flirtatious side that pushes against her clearly established boundaries and takes advantage of Utagi being a super fan. Utagi realizing this dark side of him has always existed is interesting too.
Admittedly, I'm not sure if the show will really treat this side of Tamon as the fucked up thing it is in the long run or if they're going to pass this off as being romantic, but I do like that Utagi acknowledges this as being a bit threatening.Tamon's reveal as a yandere is an interesting contrast to Ouri's kind of old fashioned tsundere who wants to win Utagi as a way of humiliating Tamon. The latter isn't great, but it's relatively more wholesome than Tamon's actions and motivations right now. Utagi herself isn't very helpful in this situation when she keeps pedestalling Tamon though. Concerned about him jumping because he'll harm his perfect body and not because he'll die. Constantly treating him as untouchable and perfect and not being willing to deal with the obvious feelings he has for her head on. Still no excuse to violate her boundries though, which he did multiple times.
Definitely not dumping on the show though. Intrigued more than anything. It's felt pretty light hearted until now.
