Ao3 and the gen ai scraping thing that happened

I'll be honest, I don't want to archive lock my works, because I want people to read them, but I'm also like oh :(

At the same time though, I'm not sure why you would want to scrape ao3 other than valuable data, because do you guys want all this slash smut? Do you want all the destial and omegaverse, which I've heard has been a problem for datasets popping that out?

I saw someone suggest they're using it for shitty webnovel sites, but can that satisfy in the long run?

SAME, like I was already in the process of transferring my stuff off of there for other reasons, but YEESH the scraping is another straw on the camel's back xD

I'm not in a hurry to transfer anytime soon, but that sure is a lot.

I do wonder what they hope to get from that data in the long run.

AGREED OWUFIDODODO and honestly WHO KNOWS, probably training it so they can have a robot write fic for them, that’s the only thing I can think of, which is just sad b/c half the fun of the writing process is doing it yourself xD
